HC Deb 25 November 1914 vol 68 cc1137-9W
Sir JOHN M'CALLUM

asked the Prime Minister whether, having regard to the expression of public opinion as evidenced by citizens' meetings in different centres, the adoption of resolutions by the Glasgow City Council School Board and other public bodies in support of prohibition, and to the inadequacy of the Temporary Restriction Act, he will state what steps the Government propose to take during the present Session to meet the popular demand for immediate legislation respecting the sale of liquor in Scotland during the War?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Government are fully alive to the importance of this matter, but they are not prepared at present to propose further legislation.
