HC Deb 21 May 1914 vol 62 cc2147-8W
Mr. BOWERMAN

asked the First Lord of the Treasury whether he is aware that it sometimes happens that an old age pensioner receives disqualifying poor relief without the fact coming to the notice of the pension officer for a considerable time, if at all; whether he is also aware that the Board of Customs and Excise, in June, 1912, informed the London county local pension committee that further precautions to prevent the risk of such overlapping were very desirable; whether any further precautions are still desirable; and whether he will furnish a statement showing the steps taken before and since the date mentioned to prevent such overlapping?

Mr. MONTAGU

I trust that the circular which the President of the Local Government Board proposes to issue shortly will meet the difficulty referred to by the hon. Member.
