HC Deb 21 May 1914 vol 62 cc2154-5W
Sir A. GRIFFITH-BOSCAWEN

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether Sir Henry Primrose, Sir William Plender, and Sir Herbert Roberts have signified their willingness to be appointed Commissioners under the Established Church (Wales) Bill; and when it is proposed to appoint them?

Mr. McKENNA

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The Commissioners will be appointed on the passing of the Act.

Sir A. GRIFFITH-BOSCAWEN

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department which of the three gentlemen proposed to be appointed Commissioners under the Established Church (Wales) Bill is a member of the Church of England, in accordance with the provisions of Clause 10 (I) of the Bill; and which is to be the unpaid Commissioner, in accordance with the terms of Clause 10, Sub-section (4) and (8), of the Bill?

Mr. McKENNA

Sir William Plender is a member of the Church of England. I may also point out that Sir Henry Primrose is a member of the Episcopal Church of Scotland. The unpaid Commissioner in accordance with the terms of Clause 10, Sub-sections (4) and (8), is the hon. Member for West Denbighshire, but Sir William Plender will also serve without remuneration.
