HC Deb 04 May 1914 vol 62 c49W
Mr. DOUGLAS HALL

asked the Secretary of State for War what regulations the War Office proposes to make in the case of motor-car owners in the Isle of Wight and other islands of the United Kingdom to obviate the possible hardship under the new Clause in the Army Act which compels owners to deliver their motor cars, if required, at any point within 100 miles, taking into consideration the fact that owners residing on islands might be compelled to convey their cars across the sea, a matter of almost impossibility in time of war?

Mr. TENNANT

It is not contemplated that owners of motor cars should be required to deliver their vehicles at any place to which they could not normally proceed under their own power.
