HC Deb 08 July 1914 vol 64 c1081W
Mr. FIELD

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether his attention has been called to the fact that in Great Britain local authorities are represented on assessment committees; and whether, in view of general valuation proceedings in Ireland, he will consider the advisability of having this system extended to Ireland?

Mr. BIRRELL

The valuation of premises for all purposes of local rating is a matter which will be within the powers of the Irish Parliament and Government, and therefore I do not think that this would be an opportune time to make any change in the existing law on the subject.
