§ Mr. FIELDasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether his attention has been called to the fact that in Great Britain local authorities are represented on assessment committees; and whether, in view of general valuation proceedings in Ireland, he will consider the advisability of having this system extended to Ireland?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe valuation of premises for all purposes of local rating is a matter which will be within the powers of the Irish Parliament and Government, and therefore I do not think that this would be an opportune time to make any change in the existing law on the subject.
