HC Deb 02 July 1914 vol 64 cc560-1W
Mr. LANE-FOX

asked the hon. Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether the term potato-picker, included in the list of those engaged in subsidiary employments liable for insurance under the National Insurance Act, refers solely to those engaged in harvesting the crop, or does it include those who pick the potatoes at the pie, with a view to sorting and afterwards planting them?

Mr. W. BENN

The term "potato picker" in the Special Order to which the hon. Member refers applies solely to persons engaged in harvesting the crop, and does not include persons who sort potatoes at the pie.
