HC Deb 26 February 1914 vol 58 cc1960-1W
Mr. JOHN O'CONNOR

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that in consequence of recent rain-storms there has been a great overflow of the River Barrow, and that there is a sheet of water stretching over the countryside and flooding the lands from Monastereven to Athy; and whether he will this Session press forward the Barrow Drainage Bill?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Board of Works have no information as to floods on the River Barrow beyond that appearing in the public Press. I am in communication with local authorities in the matter, and cannot say, as at present advised, that legislation on the subject this Session is possible.
