Mr. JOHN EDWARD GORDONasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that there are about 42,000 residents in Hove; that telegraph facilities close in Hove offices at eight o'clock; and if the Department will arrange to keep one of them open until midnight?
§ Captain NORTONThe Hove post office is open for the dispatch of telegrams till 10 p.m. on week-days, and the Brighton post office, which is less than a mile and a half away, is always open except from midnight on Saturday till 7 a.m. on Sunday. The number of telegrams dealt with at Hove during the last hour of the present attendance is very small, and I do not think that any extension of the present hours is warranted.
