HC Deb 23 February 1914 vol 58 c1434W
Mr. CROOKS

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can say approximately

when the new post office at Woolwich will be completed; whether the contract is let; and, if so to whom?

Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN

The working drawings are now ready, and quantities will be prepared and tenders, invited very shortly. It is hoped to begin the work at the beginning of May and to complete in twelve months.

Mr. CROOKS

asked the Postmaster-General whether it is proposed to place the post office at Woolwich in the second division of London offices, instead of the third, as it now stands?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The general question of the classification of London post offices is under consideration in connection with the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on Post Office Servants, and I am not yet in a position to say whether any change will be made as regards the Woolwich office.
