HC Deb 23 February 1914 vol 58 cc1424-5W
Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

also asked the Secretary for War whether the trials of the device enabling 4.7 quick-firing guns to be ranged in yards when laying indirect to use a fuse indicator, and obtain increased deflection on the deflection, scale which have been sanctioned, have proved satisfactory, and result in greater accuracy in shooting; and, if so, will he sanction the free issue of this device to Territorial units?

Colonel SEELY

The trial of this device by the heavy batteries of the Territorial Royal Garrison Artillery at their practice this year was only authorised last month, and no experience of the results it will give can therefore be available for some time. In the present experimental stage the question of a free issue does not arise.
