HC Deb 23 February 1914 vol 58 c1424W
Mr. HAYDEN

asked the Secretary for War whether the Government buildings situated on the Roscommon side of the Shannon, at Shannon Bridge, have been recently surrendered to Mr. W. T. Potts, the owner of the adjacent land; and, if so, whether he will state the nature of the terms upon which they have been given away by the Government?

Colonel SEELY

Until last year the War Department held land at Roscommon—partly freehold, partly leasehold. The latter was surrendered, and at the same time the former was sold. So far as the War Department buildings were on the freehold area, their value formed an element in the price paid by Mr. Potts frr the property. The Department had no power to remove the buildings on the leasehold area.
