§ Mr. RUNCIMANThe first cases of foot-and-mouth disease in the recent outbreak at Birkenhead occurred in the Wallasey lairage, but on the following day a number of cases were discovered in the Woodside lairage. The Board have ascertained by inquiry that at Woodside foreign hay and meal were supplied to cattle, but at Wallasey only Irish hay was supplied to cattle and English meal to swine. The whole of the landing place at Birkenhead is being thoroughly cleansed and disinfected.
