HC Deb 04 August 1914 vol 65 cc1923-4W
Mr. FIELD

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he is aware that many complaints have been made respecting the injuries received by livestock in railway transit; and whether he will cause inquiry to be made with a view to preventing cruelty and casualties?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The Board recognises the importance of protecting livestock as far as possible against injury during transit, and I am sending my hon. Friend a memorandum showing the steps which have been taken with this object in view. Very few complaints on this subject have been made to the Board recently.
