§ Mr. MONTAGUThe sum in question is required in connection with the large increase of work involved in the Income Tax, Super-tax, and Death Duties provisions of the Finance Act. The branches of the Inland Revenue principally affected are the tax surveying branch, the staff attached to the Special Commissioners, and the Estate Duty office. The details of the additional staff to be allotted to these branches has not been finally settled; but the method of recruitment and rates of salary will be those now in force. No provision for valuation staff is included in the sum of £45,000.
