§ Mr. MORRELLasked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been called to the petition presented by the Burnley Smallholders' Association, consisting of over 30 householders and others in the neighbourhood, for the establishment of adequate postal facilities in the district; whether he is aware that at present there is only one delivery of letters a day, and that the nearest place where letters are collected is about a mile distant from the holdings; and whether, in view of the fact that these holdings were established by the Burnley Corporation under the provision of the Small Holdings Act, and that adequate postal facilities are necessary to their success, he will 1922W make further inquiries into the matter with a view to providing a better service?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEI have received the Petition from the Burnley Smallholders' Association, and regret to find that the existing postal service at the Small Holdings, Burnley, is barely self supporting, and that the additional expense of providing the further facilities asked for by the Association would not be warranted.
