§ Mr. DICKINSONasked the President of the Board of Education whether any suggestion for reducing the salary of minor staff clerkships in his Department has been received by the Board; and, if so, whether he will state the nature of the suggestion?
Mr. PEASENo proposal has been made to the Board that the minor staff clerks' 545W salaries should be reduced, but the Treasury have inquired whether some of the duties performed by minor staff clerks could not be performed by clerks receiving a lower rate of pay, and we are now in communication with the Treasury on the subject.
