§ Mr. HARRY HOPEasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the prevalence of the diseases of braxy and louping-ill in the sheep stocks of Argyllshire and other Western counties, he will recommend a Grant from the Development Fund being given to the Glasgow Veterinary College for the purpose of carrying on research work into those diseases, which affect so seriously the farmers and small holders of the Western counties?
§ Mr. MASTERMANAn application from the Glasgow Veterinary College is now under the consideration of the Development Commissioners; and I understand that a Committee of the Commissioners have very recently conferred in Scotland with representatives of the college upon the whole subject of encouraging veterinary research there. I may add that a Grant from the Development Fund was made last year to the Royal Society of Edinburgh for experimental investigation of the causes of louping-ill in sheep.
