Mr. POINTERasked the Postmaster General whether he is aware that a number of mishaps have occurred in Dundee through the use of tricycles on postal work; and whether, considering the hilly nature of the city and strong winds from the east, he will consider the advisability of prohibiting the use of carrier tricycles for postal work in Dundee?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELReports received up to the 13th May show that two mishaps to postmen engaged on tricycle duties at Dundee had occurred since the introduction of tricycle working in October last, and that neither was of a serious nature. The men selected for this work are specially examined by the medical officer, and there is no reason to suppose that the work is detrimental to the health of the men employed. In the circumstances, I do not propose to alter the existing arrangements.
