§ Mr. WILLIAM ABRAHAM (Dublin, Harbour)asked the Chief Secretary whether the Registrar-General has recommended any of the temporary clerks in the General Register Office for promotion to the position of abstractor; and, if not, will he consider the question, in view of the fact that there are three vacancies at present in the office, that the desirability of abolishing temporary posts has been admitted, and that the regular and almost universal method of doing so is the promotion of temporary clerks to abstractors in the office in which they are serving?
