Mr. CATHCART WASONasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is assured that the classification of colour blindness by the Departmental Committee 1012W of the Board of Trade is satisfactory, or if he proposes to take any steps to modify the same?
Mr. BUXTONAs at present advised, I do not propose to take any steps to modify the method of classification of colour blind persons adopted by the Departmental Committee, which is only one of several methods used by the appeal examiners. I would point out that the Committee recognised in their Report that this method had had only a short trial, and that they were convinced that the final decision as to whether in a given case colour deficiency is so great as to involve incompetency ought to remain with the appeal examiners.
