§ Sir J. D. REESasked the President of the Board of Trade whether any lace factories have been recently established in Austria; and, if so, what help has been given by the Imperial Government to the owners of such factories analogous to that given by the Hungarian Government?
Mr. BUXTONI am not aware whether lace factories have been recently established in Austria, but His Majesty's Ambassador at Vienna states that the Austrian Government have no power to accord such assistance to new factories as is given by the Hungarian Government under the Hungarian Law of 1899.
