HC Deb 11 February 1913 vol 48 c730W
Mr. WILLIAM THORNE

asked the Secretary for War the reason why the War Office decided to withdraw their contract from several Midland hosiery hand-frame knitting firms who make Army hand-made pants?

Mr. BAKER

It has been decided that further contracts for pants made on the hand frame shall not be placed, as garments made on the ordinary power machines are quite as satisfactory and much cheaper.
