HC Deb 04 February 1913 vol 47 c2005W
Mr. CHARLES DUNCAN

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether it is the practice in his Department for clerks engaged upon overtime to be required either to forego the usual Saturday half-holiday or to sacrifice the pay for the first three hours of any overtime they may work; and, if so, when this practice was introduced?

Mr. BURNS

There has been no such practice in the Local Government Board. The grant of the Saturday half-holiday is conditional on the state of business permitting it, and this has not been understood as limiting overtime pay for special work dome out of ordinary office hours.
