§ Mr. CARR-GOMMasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that an official from the General Post Office has been making inquiries at shops in the neighbourhood of Southwark Park Road and Drummond Road with a view to obtaining 2832W the consent of shopkeepers to sell stamps; whether this has been done to avoid the inconvenience caused by the removal of the post office at 319, Southwark Park Road; and whether satisfactory arrangements have now been made to meet the demand for postal facilities in this neighbourhood?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELIn order to reduce to a minimum any inconvenience which might be occasioned by the closing of the Post Office at 319, Southwark Park Road, inquiry has been made with a view to the sale of stamps at a shop in the vicinity, but no arrangement to that effect has yet been come to. As I explained in reply to a question by the hon. Member in the House of Commons on the 20th of June, I do not propose to reopen the office.
