Mr. WILLIAM REDMONDasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he is aware that the Clare County Council unanimously reappointed Mr. J. F. Killeen, a rate collector; and whether, in view of this fact, he will advise the Local Government Board of Ireland to sanction the appointment, as the council is satisfied that Mr. Killeen will perform his duties satisfactorily for the future?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe Local Government Board have informed the county council that they are unable to comply with their request that Killeen, who was removed2670W from the office of poor rate collector for persistent neglect of duty, should be reinstated. Having regard to all the circumstances of the case this decision cannot be reconsidered.
