§ Sir WILLIAM BULLasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has received a petition containing resolutions passed at a mass meeting of British-Indian residents in Zanzibar, held on the 9th June last, with reference to the intended change of administration of the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba from the Foreign to the Colonial Office, and protesting against the absorption in and subjection of those islands to the East African Protectorate as a consequence of 1772W such change of administration, for the reason that under that protectorate there are imposed many harsh restrictions and disabilities to which the British-Indian residents in Zanzibar and Pemba are not subjected; whether any reply has been made to the petition; and whether he will favourably consider the prayer of the petition?
