§ Mr. LARDNERasked the President of the Local Government Board if he is aware of the practice in Grimsby workhouse for the inmates to stand up on the entry of the guardians; whether it has his sanction; and, in the event of any inmate refusing to stand up on the entry of the guardians, will he permit any disciplinary punishment to be inflicted?
§ Mr. HERBERT LEWISI am informed that in some places it is the custom for occupants of a room to rise from their seats on the entrance of visitors or persons in authority. There is no regulation on the subject, and I see no reason for interfering with what may be looked upon as a natural act of courtesy.
