HC Deb 21 April 1913 vol 52 cc45-6W
Mr. DUFFY

asked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been called to a resolution passed by the Loughrea Rural District Council in reference to the promised Land Bill; is he aware that discontent is felt amongst the people owing to the exclusion of young men with capital, but without land, from the operation of the Land Act of 1909 in Galway; and will he institute full inquiry into this matter before framing his Bill, so that the existing Law shall be so amended as to remove the disqualification on young men who are most anxious to live a farming life in Ireland if they are only given the chance?

Mr. BIRRELL

My attention has been called to the resolution referred to. This matter was fully discussed by the Dudley Commission, and there is no necessity for any further inquiry.
