Mr. NEWDEGATEasked the President of the Local Government Board whether, in parish council elections, when there are more candidates for election than vacancies, he will provide by Order, or by legislation if necessary, that a poll takes place automatically unless a sufficient number of withdrawals take place in a given time before the date fixed for the poll.
§ Mr. BURNSAs I have stated in reply to previous questions, the Amendment of the existing Regulations for the election of parish councillors is a matter which I have under consideration.
