HC Deb 14 April 1913 vol 51 c1655W
Captain CAMPBELL

asked what steps, if any, have been taken since October, 1912, to give to naturalised subjects of the Crown in the Dominion of Canada the same rights and privileges as those enjoyed by persons naturalised in the United Kingdom?

Mr. HARCOURT

The proposed alteration in the status of persons naturalised in Canada cannot be effected without legislation both here and in the self-governing Dominions. The draft of the necessary legislation was returned by the Canadian Government in December with suggestions which involved alterations in the Bill, which was then recast. It is now before the Dominion Government awaiting their further reply.
