HC Deb 14 April 1913 vol 51 c1641W
Sir FORTESCUE FLANNERY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether inspectors under the National Insurance Act in several districts where there has been determined opposition to the Act have received instructions to tell the farmers that if they begin paying now, in the third quarter, and deduct the tax from the men's wages, the Commissioners will excuse them from paying up the arrears on contributions due from the period from 15th July to 15th January; and whether any relief from payment as regards contributions by farmers has been, or will be, extended to them?

Mr. ROBERTSON

As my right hon. Friend the Secretary to the Treasury stated in reply to a similar question by my hon. Friend the Member for Bedford on 20th January, the answer is in the negative.
