§ Mr. CHARLES BATHURSTasked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether any statement made by railway 1379W officials that the recent increase of 55 per cent. in the charges for the carriage of two cows and two calves over the Great Western and other railways is due to an Order or regulation issued by his Department is well-founded; and, if so what is the exact purport of such Order or regulation, and why has it been issued?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANIt is possible that the increased charge may be due to the provisions of Article 13 of the Animals (Transit and General) Order of 1912, which requires the separation of mixed consignments, but I have no official information, and I propose to make inquiries of the railway companies on the subject.
