The following figures, which relate to the year 1907, deal with some of the chief classes of woollen, worsted, and mohair goods produced in the United Kingdom and in Germany, respectively:—

United Kingdom. Germany.
Total Make of Tops 243,500,000 lbs. (estimated) 136,735,000 lbs.
Total Make of Woollen Yarns 260,000,000 lbs. (estimated) 223,831,000 lbs.
Total Make of Worsted, Alpaca, Mohair, etc. Yarns 186,000,000 lbs. (estimated) 146,543.000 lbs.
Woollen and Worsted (Pure and Mixed)—
Tissues Woven for Own Account—
Quantity 365,657,000 yards 249,834,000 lbs.
Value £32,474,000 £38,080,000.
Woollen and Worsted Tissues (Pure and Mixed) Woven on Commission—
Quantity 31,577,000 yards 20,419,000 lbs.

In addition, carpets, flannels, blankets, and other fabrics of wool, to an aggregate value of £9,918,000, were manufactured in the United Kingdom in 1907. The corresponding figures of German output are not available.
