HC Deb 24 October 1912 vol 42 c2406W
Mr. BARNES

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture what are the wages paid to the 607 labourers and woodmen employed by the Commissioners of Woods and Forests; if there is a difference in the wages paid to the 44 ex-soldiers and ex-sailors as compared with the wages paid to the other men; and, if so, how much?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The 607 labourers and woodmen referred to comprise a great variety of men both skilled and unskilled, and it would be quite impossible within the limits of an answer in this House to give particulars of the different wages that are paid, which, of course, vary according to the character of the work and the districts in which the men are employed. No difference is made between ex-soldiers and sailors and others.
