HC Deb 22 October 1912 vol 42 cc1956-7W
Mr. COURTHOPE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will include in the official notices to mariners a warning with regard to the trawling ground in Rye Bay, with its powerful tides and its many fishing boats, and a caution that special regard should be paid to the heavy leeway made by boats with their trawls down?

Mr. BUXTON

The trawling ground off Rye Bay and the direction and set of the tides are indicated on the Admiralty Chart. A full description of the tides in this locality is also given in the Channel Pilot, Part I. I propose to include a warning on the subject in the Notices to Mariners.
