HC Deb 21 October 1912 vol 42 cc1742-3W
Mr. ORDE-POWLETT

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the only allowance made by the Government to members of the National Reserve is 1s. per head, of which 6d. is spent in providing a badge; whether members of the Reserve are expected to provide practice ammunition out of that sum; if so, how many rounds it will provide; whether he is aware that in some districts recourse has had to be made to whist drives and other forms of entertainment to raise funds for

the purchase of sufficient practice ammunition; and whether he will in future give more financial assistance to this force?

Colonel SEELY

One shilling a head is paid to county associations for the National Reserve, to be expended in any way considered desirable by the association. The question of the future organisation of the Reserve is now receiving careful consideration.
