asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many persons were killed in London during the year 1911 by taxi-cabs, private motor cars, and commercial motor vehicles, respectively?

Mr. McKENNA

The number of persons killed in the Metropolitan Police district during 1911 was:—

By taxi-cabs 31
By light motor cars 86
By heavy motor cars 30
By motor cycles 7

Without a separate investigation of the facts of each case, it cannot be stated which of these vehicles were used for private and which for commercial purposes.
