HC Deb 21 October 1912 vol 42 c1743W
Mr. J. P. FARRELL

asked the Secretary of State for War who is responsible for the Order closing the upper and lower military barracks of Longford and removing the troops hitherto stationed there for many years; what the War Office propose to do with the barracks thus left derelict; and whether the fact that the urban council at a cost of £3,000 has made a new filtered reservoir to supply pure water to the barracks was taken into consideration before making this Order?

Colonel SEELY

The Army Council is responsible for the removal of the troops. The barracks are available for occupation should they be required, but at present they are not so required. The new urban district water supply has not been taken to the barracks.
