§ Mr. HOGGEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has received a resolution from the general council of the University of Glasgow, asking for a general discretion with regard to an inclusive fee for medicine; and whether, in view of the opposition of both Glasgow and Edinburgh to the proposal, he is now prepared to withdraw the letter of the Lords of the Treasury stating that the adoption of such a fee is a condition of increased Grants to the Scottish universities?
