HC Deb 11 November 1912 vol 43 cc1744-5W
Mr. HUGH LAW

asked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been called to a resolution passed by the Glen-ties Rural District Council, on 26th October, protesting against the postponement of the scheme already approved by them for the improvement of Burtonport Harbour; and whether, seeing that the average valuation of holdings in the district does not exceed 30s., and that the inhabitants are consequently unable to live out of the proceeds of the land and depend in a great measure upon the profits of the fishing industry, the Congested Districts Board will again press upon the Development Commissioners the urgent necessity of proceeding with the scheme without further delay?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board have received the resolution referred to. The matter cannot be reopened at present as the Development Commissioners have made definite Grants dealing with the money at their disposal. The application will, however, be again brought under the notice of the Development Commissioners.
