HC Deb 04 November 1912 vol 43 cc850-1W
Mr. REMNANT

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that A. H. Patmore, of 225, Boundary Road, Barking, after making several applications to the county of Essex insurance committee for sanatorium benefit, was compelled to obtain the benefit from another source; and whether he will direct that the county of Essex insurance committee shall refund the cost?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I am informed by the Essex insurance committee that at the time of the application referred to they found that the attitude of the local medical profession rendered it impossible for them to obtain the necessary medical report on the applicant's physical condition. Consideration of the application was consequently deferred until October, and when the case came up at the first meeting of the committee in that month it was found that the applicant had made a private arrangement for treatment in a sanatorium. I am communicating further with the insurance committee with regard to the ease.
