HC Deb 04 November 1912 vol 43 c856W
Mr. CASSEL

asked the Postmaster-General whether the Supplementary Estimate voted since the issue of the Outlines of the Financial Provisions of the Government of Ireland Bill will affect the receipts and expenditure on Irish account of the Imperial Government shown on page 4 of the Outlines; and, if so, in what way and in respect of what items?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The following expenditure on Irish account is provided for in the Supplementary Estimates presented this summer:—

Irish Service—
Public Education £10,000
Reserved'Service—
National Health Insurance £22,500

The apportionment between Great Britain and Ireland of the Grant for expenses, under the Unemployed Workmen Act, 1905, will not be known until a later-date. I see no reason at present for altering the estimate of the total expenditure of the Imperial Government on Irish account given on page 4 of the White Paper, as it is impossible to say at this period of the financial year what savings will be effected by Irish Departments generally.
