HC Deb 04 November 1912 vol 43 cc858-9W
Lord C. BERESFORD

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether twenty-three Greenwich Hospital pensions of £35 each are set apart annually for commissioned officers from warrant rank and commissioned warrant officers; whether chief artificer engineers and artificer engineers are not included; and, if so, whether he will take into his consideration that such ranks should be included?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The reply to the first part of the question is that there are twenty-three pensions of £35 a year each set apart for chief gunners, chief boatswains, and chief carpenters, and for lieutenants and carpenter lieutenants promoted from these ranks. The reply to the second part is that chief artificer engineers and artificer engineers are not included. The reply to the last part of the Noble Lord's question is that the distribution of these pensions is reviewed periodically, and that the claims of the engineer branch are invariably considered at the same time.
