HC Deb 21 March 1912 vol 35 c2208W
Mr. FIELD

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether ha can state if a scheme of reorganisation for the Customs Statistical Office has been received at the Treasury; and, if so, when an announcement may be expected, having regard to the discontent that exists in that Department?

Mr. MASTERMAN

No such scheme has been received at the Treasury.

Mr. FIELD

asked how many second division clerks have been placed on the permanent establishment of the Customs and Excise during the months of January and February, 1912; how many vacancies for second division clerks at present exist in that Department; and how many of such vacancies will be allotted to the 150 assistant clerks who are eligible by service for promotion?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The answer to the first part of the question is seventy-one. There are no vacancies at present; the third part of the question, therefore, does not arise.
