asked the Secretary for Scotland, what was the excess of births over deaths in Scotland during the year 1911; and what was the excess of emigration from over immigration to Scottish ports during that year?

During the year 1911 there were registered in Scotland 121,811 births and 71,726 deaths; the excess of births over deaths was thus 50,085. The following table shows the number of passengers between Scottish ports and places out of Europe during the year 1911, distinguishing the number stated to be of Scottish nationality:—
