§ Mr. NEWMANasked whether, in all cases, ponies or other animals employed underground in coal mining have been brought to the surface or are being adequately cared for in the mines; and whether adequate steps are being taken to ensure that no undue suffering be caused to such animals during the continuance of the strike in all coal mining areas?
§ Mr. McKENNANo case has been brought to my notice in which the animals in a mine are not being adequately cared for, and I do not think there need be any apprehension that animals will be left below ground without receiving proper attention.
