Mr. ROBERTSONThe imports in question are still continuing to increase, the value of the imports of motor cars, chassis, and parts in the first five months of the current year having been £3,019,000, as against £2,501,000 in the corresponding period of 1911, and £2,016,000 in the corresponding period of 1910. The imports of complete motor cars have only increased during the current year by £167,000, an increase wholly due to the largely increased imports of cheaper cars from the United States of America. The imports of chassis have declined in value. The main increase in the group is in the imports of parts, especially from France and Germany.
