HC Deb 20 June 1912 vol 39 c1981W
Mr. DANIEL BOYLE

asked the Chief Secretary if the Estates Commissioners' inspector has yet reported on the case of Mr. Patrick Loftus, a tenant on the Arran Estate, county Mayo; and when Loftus may expect to receive the £6 withheld by the Commissioners for the work done by him in clearing his land of flood debris?

Mr. BIRRELL

As I have already informed the hon. Member, a Grant of £12 was sanctioned by the Estates Commissioners to Thomas Loftus, a tenant on the Arran estate, to assist him to repair the damage caused by floods to his lands, this Grant to be paid to him according as the work was carried out. The Commissioners' inspector visited the lands and found only about half the necessary work done, and Loftus was accordingly paid only half the Grant, £6. The balance of the Grant will be paid when Loftus satisfies the Commissioners that he has completed the work for which the Grant of £12 was sanctioned.
