HC Deb 18 June 1912 vol 39 c1640W
Mr. WILKIE

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the fact that during the past four years Scottish postal servants have suffered financially through the introduction by the Post Office of a lower standard for cost of living in Scotland, and seeing that the matter has now-been referred by him to the Select Committee on Post Office servants, he will direct that the question of the Scottish standard shall be considered by that Committee apart from and prior to their deliberations on the general case, in order that Scotland may start from an equal wage level as compared with the rest of the country?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The Government cannot give directions to a Select Committee of this House as to its procedure.
