HC Deb 18 June 1912 vol 39 c1637W
Mr. WILLIAM ABRAHAM (Dublin, Harbour)

asked the Postmaster-General what administrative duties are performed by the Dublin Controller of Telegraphs; whether he is aware that this officer supervises the instrument room practically continuously from 10.30 a.m. till 4.30 p.m.; and if this action on his part is due to any incompetence on the part of the superintendents to satisfactorily dispose of the telegraph traffic?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The Controller of Telegraphs at Dublin performs, to my satisfaction, the duty of controlling the telegraph work in that city. His personal attention to details of his work involves no imputation upon his subordinate controlling staff, but is, on the other hand, an indication of the high standard of duty which he attempts to set. I am glad of this opportunity of stating publicly my appreciation of his energy in the performance of his work.
